About Lighthouse Montessori School

We empower our children and the people who surround them to live in peace and service to the world. Lighthouse Montessori School is an all-year, all-day Montessori primary school with all-day access to our outside environment. We are one Montessori trained Head of School, two trained Montessori teachers, three assistants, one substitute assistant that also provides French lessons, twenty-five children, and a community of parents, volunteers, and alumni. The goal of our Montessori program is not to prepare your child for first grade. The goal of our program is to prepare your child to discover his or her place in our global society. We support the child during a vital period of development, when the child's natural love of learning and discovery have the possibility of becoming a way of life. Our program is the first step in creating responsible citizens who feel empowered to change the world, with the regard for the people and land around them to do so respectfully.

The center is open Monday - Thursday 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM, Friday 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM. We are open Monday thru Friday from 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM for children under 4.

What Makes Lighthouse Montessori School Special?

Lighthouse Montessori believes in connecting with each child at their emotional level and assisting in helping them find their unique place within our community in a compassionate way. In parallel with that, Lighthouse teachers are there to guide the child in finding their own love for learning, assisting in their academic abilities to the best of each child's ability, and aiding the child in finding their own self-motivation. Everything about a Montessori classroom fosters independence, and at Lighthouse we celebrate the executive functions that become a part of the child as they near graduation from our program. — Cynthia Dahl, Head of School

How is Lighthouse Montessori School staying safe during Covid?

Until we are in King County's Phase 3, our community has chosen to adopt an A/B schedule, alternating weeks when their children attend the program to limit the number of people in the classroom.

We are also doing multiple deep cleanings during the day, and are adhering to the CDC and DOH's COVID guidelines for childcare programs. Please see our Health and Safety Document above for more details!
