About us
Cosmopolitan Kids Children's Academy is an owner-operated, female (and mother) founded, play-based organization that started twenty years ago. Shawna Smits and Stephanie Roberts saw the need for quality childcare in Seattle after Stephanie searched for care for her one year old daughter. They have been committed to providing caring and nurturing childcare ever since, opening their first daycare in 1999 and understand the importance of building relationships with your child's caregivers and they strive to provide opportunities for your child and theirs to learn and grow with the Cosmopolitan Kids families and teachers.
Curriculum

Brain research shows that children learn best through play. We provide ample opportunities for children to practice developmental and academic skills in a playbased setting. Activities are hands-on and experiential. Socio-emotional development is crucial to children’s future success in school and a focus in our classrooms and curriculum.

We support families as experts in their child and partners in care. • We strive to teach with attention to equity and anti-bias principles in order to ensure that every child has what they need to be successful at our center and in the larger world. • Our primary focus is to foster relationships between teachers and families, teachers and children, and between peers. Positive relationships are the foundation upon which learning is built.

Owner Stephanie was kind and very generous with her time, and gave a thorough tour of the entire facility.
